Current CHIS Initiatives

The primary project under development by The Chicago Institute of Health & Science is the construction, commissioning and accreditation of a 200 bed teaching hospital in the United Arab Emirates.

This facility will include both a School of Medicine, and a School of Nursing and will delivery much needed services to the local population in all of the following capacities:

  • Pediatrics and Adult Cardiology / Electrophysiology
  • Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery / Possibility of heart transplantation
  • Hematology / Hepatology and possible liver transplantation
  • Neurology and neurosurgery institute
  • ENT (ear / nose / throat) Otolaryngology
  • Governance and Operational Leadership
  • US level of Clinical and Patient Care Experience
  • Medical School affiliation
  • Cardiology, Cardiac surgery, Electrophysiology – adult and pediatric
  • Gastroenterology
  • Infectious Disease
  • General Surgery, Thoracic, Vascular, Genital-Urinary, and Neurosurgery; and Surgical Oncology
  • Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeries, and Dermatology
  • Oncology (adult and pediatric), Radiation Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation
  • Orthopedic Surgery, including joint replacement specialists
  • Urgent and Emergency Care
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Intensive Care Medicine with the option of 24-hour, real time remote monitoring from the US
    Sleep Center
  • Diabetic / Weight Loss Center with highly trained staff
  • Primary Care Services
  • Home Health Care / Durable Medical Equipment
  • Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation / Fitness Facility

 

This new state of the art facility will also be established to meet all of the unique cultural and language requirements of the region, including:

  • Architectural design / Grounds keeping
  • Preservation of UAE urban and national heritage
  • Language usage (particularly English, Arabic, Urdu, and Farsi)
  • Consideration of social castes (Al-Muwateneen [nationals] and Al-Wafedeen [foreign immigrants])
  • Symbols of social stratification (adherence to accepted dress codes for both genders)
  • Gender considerations (allowing for proper facility operation)
  • Social etiquette
  • Religious observances
  • Secular celebrations
  • Political compliance
